BRETT HEADING, LLB (HONS) BCom
Non-executive Chairman

Mr. Heading is an experienced corporate lawyer, a partner and Chairman of McCullough Robertson Lawyers. Mr. Heading specialises in capital raisings, mergers and acquisitions and board advice. He has a wide-ranging client base including emerging companies in the biotechnology and agribusiness sectors. His Australian government appointments include membership of the Takeovers Panel and the Board of Taxation. Mr. Heading is also Chairman of Peanut Company of Australia Ltd and Ambri Ltd.

GREG COLLIER, PhD
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director

Dr. Collier has more than 20 years experience spanning commercial, operational, clinical and scientific aspects of pharmaceutical research and development, and is a regular invited speaker at international research and biotechnology conferences. Under Dr. Collier’s guidance ChemGenex has aggressively focused on the company’s progression to the clinic and eventual marketing approval of lead agents. Dr. Collier has a detailed understanding of both the developmental and managerial drivers of value in the biotech industry, and has overseen an international merger, a listing on NASDAQ and several substantial capital raisings. Dr. Collier has a PhD in biochemistry from Monash University and is the co-inventor of 33 patents and co-author of more than 120 scientific publications.

ELMAR SCHNEE, BCom, MMktg
Non-executive Director

Mr. Schnee is a General Partner and Member of the Executive Board of Merck KGaA and the President of Merck Serono. Mr. Schnee has more than 20 years experience in the international pharmaceutical industry, with specific expertise in business development and marketing gained at companies including Fisons Pharmaceutical, Sanofi-Synthélabo and UCB Pharma. Mr. Schnee has a depth of understanding in product development and launch that will enhance the company’s position as it progresses with the commercialization of its core technologies through alliances and in-house development. Mr.Schnee has a degree in Marketing Management from the Zurich-based Schweizerisches Institut für Betriebsökonomie (Swiss Institute for Business Administration).

GEOFF BROOKE, MBBS, MBA
Non-executive Director

Dr. Brooke is the Managing Partner of GBS Venture partners and has more than 15 years venture capital experience. Dr. Brooke was formerly President of Medvest Inc., a US-based early-stage venture capital group he co-founded with Johnson & Johnson. Dr. Brooke’s experience includes company formation and acquisitions, as well as public listings on both NASDAQ and ASX. He has been an investor, executive and director of private and public companies and is currently on the board of directors of CogState and Sunshine Heart. Dr. Brooke is licensed in clinical medicine by the Medical Board of Victoria, Australia and his post-graduate studies were in anaesthesiology/intensive care. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery from the University of Melbourne, Australia and a Masters of Business Administration from IMEDE (now IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland.

DAN JANNEY, BA, MBA
Non-executive Director

Mr. Janney is the Managing Director of Alta Partners, who has been with Alta since its founding in 1996. Mr. Janney focuses on investments in biopharmaceutical products and therapeutics, and has been directly involved in the funding and development of over 25 life sciences companies. Mr. Janney is currently on the board of directors of a number of companies, including Alba Therapeutics, Arete Therapeutics, CoTherix, Kemia, Phenomix Corporation and ViroBay. In addition, he led Alta’s investments in Dynavax, Endonetics, Ilex Oncology, Definity Health, InterMune and LJL Biosystems. Prior to joining Alta, Mr. Janney was a senior investment banker at Montgomery Securities, focusing on life sciences companies, and he is currently a member of the advisory board for the Rebecca and John Moores Cancer Center at University of California, San Diego. Mr. Janney holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Georgetown University and a Master of Business Administration from the Anderson School at the University of California, Los Angeles.

GEORGE MORSTYN, MBBS, PhD, FRACP
Non-executive Director

Dr. Morstyn was former Senior Vice President and Head of Development at Amgen. Dr. Morstyn graduated from Monash University and completed a PhD with Professor Donald Metcalf at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. He played a significant role in the clinical development of GCSF a product widely used in cancer treatment. Dr. Morstyn’s substantial clinical, research and commercial experience includes training in medical oncology at the National Cancer Institute in the US, Head of the Clinical Program of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in Melbourne (1983-1991) and a range of increasingly senior appointments at Amgen from 1991–2002.

JEAN-LUC TÉTARD
Non-executive Director

Mr. Tétard has more than 35 years experience in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. As founding Chief Executive Officer of Stragen Chemical SA and Stragen Pharma SA Mr. Tétard has, over a period of 18 years, guided the growth and success of the Stragen Group as it has expanded to become a European leader in developing and distributing generic pharmaceuticals. The Stragen Group has obtained approximately 200 drug marketing approvals globally and has operations in Switzerland, France, the UK, Germany, Scandinavia, Russia and Canada. Prior to founding the Stragen Group Mr. Tétard worked for the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi (now Sanofi-Aventis) as a senior executive in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
